I was going through some old writings of mine. On the one year anniversary of 9/11, we held a little memorial at our farm. I wrote these words to go with the song “How Do I Live,” which was sung by both LeAnn Rimes and Trisha Yearwood. I thought I would share this today.
The Great U.S.A.
Yes, Bin Laden
Unleashed his evil that day
Tried to take our freedoms from us
Sent our loved ones away
But he failed his task
All he did was get us to unite
Now we’re stronger hand in hand
And we will move on
He can never take away all we have
We will stand strong
Chorus:
So hear our song
Our Flag will fly, forever
The Red, White, and Blue
We’ll fly it high, together
It’s what we will do
We are a nation of strength, hope, and pride
America, America, our country, our home.
In this nation
We fight for what we believe
Try to keep the goodness alive
For the dreams we conceive
So together
We will beat the evil that has come
With our hearts, our minds, our souls
And we will stand strong
Terrorists will never rule the U.S.A.
They don’t belong
Chorus:
So hear our song
Our Flag will fly forever
The Red, White, and Blue
We’ll fly it high, together
It’s what we will do
We are a nation of strength, hope, and pride
America, America, our country, our home.
Yes, we will move on
And we will stand strong
Terrorists will never rule the U.S.A.
They don’t belong
We will always do it the American way
We’ll right the wrong
Chorus:
So hear our song
Our Flag will fly, forever
The Red, White, and Blue
We’ll fly it high, together
It’s what we will do
We are a nation of strength, hope, and pride
America, America, our country, our home.
We are the Great U. S. A.
